They are an authorized dealer for the telescope brands they carry, and their sales and support staff are generally knowledgeable and helpful at resolving setup and calibration issues.
Among the pure optics retailers, telescopes.com is one of the few retailers to offer a selection of a number of different instrument designs including refracting telescopes, reflecting telescopes, Dobsonian telescopes, catadioptric telescopes and optical tubes. They also offer solar telescopes. We really like their selection of telescope bundles that combine the telescope, tripod, mount, eye pieces, filters, carrying case and remote power pack. These packages are offered at a number of price points and capabilities, and are a really easy way for someone to get into astronomy with a setup that works with little configuration.
